Indigenous-owned video production. Cultural authority from the start.
Bohdee Media is a Supply Nation Certified, Indigenous-owned, managed and controlled video production company. We tell First Nations stories and help organisations acknowledge Country with the care those stories deserve.
Cultural authority guides every First Nations project, from the first conversation to the final film. Elders aren’t brought in at the end to approve a finished story. Their guidance shapes it from the start.

WHAT WE MAKE
First Nations stories, told properly.
First Nations stories
Profiles, documentaries and community stories led by the people in them, in their own words.
Acknowledgement of Country films
Films that acknowledge the First Peoples and Country connected to your organisation, with the script, place names and pronunciation developed with, and approved by, the relevant cultural authorities.
RAP and NAIDOC Week content
Reconciliation Action Plan launches, progress stories and NAIDOC Week films that show genuine commitment rather than generic imagery.
Indigenous business and supplier stories
Profiles of the Indigenous businesses you work with, for procurement events, supplier briefings and RAP reporting.
An Acknowledgement of Country is not a Welcome to Country.
A Welcome to Country can only be delivered by a Traditional Owner, or by a person authorised by the relevant Traditional Owners, and it belongs in person, on Country. The films we make are Acknowledgements of Country. They aren’t intended to replace a Welcome where one is appropriate.
A good Acknowledgement film gets the places right, uses the right names and says them correctly, and is developed with the relevant Traditional Owners. It holds up at an event, in an induction, in a school, and in front of a community that knows the difference.
CULTURAL GOVERNANCE
The safeguards we work to.
These are the minimum standards on every First Nations project.
Mapping before invitations
We establish which Nations, Traditional Owner groups, Elders and Knowledge Holders are relevant, and what relationships already exist, before anyone receives a phone call.
No one speaks for another Country
We will not ask an Elder to speak for a waterway, a group or a community that isn’t theirs, even when it would make the edit tidier.
Free, prior and informed consent
Consent covers participation, recording, editing, storage, reuse and distribution, and is reviewed if the purpose or context changes.
Written ICIP terms
Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property terms set out ownership, permitted uses, attribution, withdrawal, and how restricted or sensitive knowledge is handled.
Fair remuneration
Elders and cultural advisers are paid for their time, knowledge and cultural labour, and those costs are itemised transparently.
Review before publication
Participants review their contribution in context before anything is published: the cut, their name, the Country identified, the pronunciation and the captions.
CERTIFIED
Certified, so your spend counts.
Bohdee Media is Supply Nation Certified, the higher of Supply Nation’s two verification levels, and holds Assured Certification from the NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce. For government agencies, spend with us counts toward Indigenous procurement targets. For organisations with a Reconciliation Action Plan, it counts toward your procurement commitments.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
Is Bohdee Media Indigenous-owned?
Yes. We’re Supply Nation Certified, confirming we’re 51% or more Indigenous owned, managed and controlled, and we hold Assured Certification from the NSW Indigenous Chamber of Commerce.
Can you make a Welcome to Country video?
A Welcome to Country should be delivered in person by a Traditional Owner or someone they’ve authorised. We make Acknowledgement of Country films, developed with the relevant cultural authorities.
How do you decide who speaks in a First Nations film?
Through cultural mapping, before anyone is approached. We identify the relevant Nations, Traditional Owner groups, Elders and Knowledge Holders, and work through existing relationships wherever possible.
What happens if a participant wants to withdraw?
Every project has a written process for concerns, corrections and withdrawal requests, and consent records include a nominated contact and an agreed protocol if a participant passes away.
Does working with you count toward our Indigenous procurement targets?
For government agencies and organisations with Indigenous procurement commitments, yes.
