University of Technology Sydney

Every Tuesday night, a van leaves a farm in rural Ibaraki and drives into Tokyo. By the time it stops, it's past midnight. The back doors open, and people appear from the backstreets, including Thai restaurant owners, Burmese chefs, and Indian construction workers. They're all there for coriander, holy basil, lemongrass, bitter melon, chillies. Vegetables they can't find anywhere else.

The farm belongs to a Laotian refugee couple who arrived in Japan in 1985 with almost nothing and spent the next four decades quietly building something extraordinary.

Bohdee is partnering with the University of Technology Sydney to document the farm's story, and the moment it passes to the next generation. Satapon is supported by the Toshiba International Foundation.
